History of Tennessee

Tennessee  was explored in 1540 by a spanisih explorer named Hernando de Soto. Later it was explored by to other spanish explores in 1559 and in 1567. It was claimed by two different tribes The Muscogee and Yuchi people. Tennessee was the 16th state to be established and is the 17th largest state. In the 1600's France and England claimed that they owned land in America including Tennessee.

    During the Civil War Tennesse joined the Confederecy becauseit was muc pro-union setiment in the state.Tennessee was the first to be made out of a government territory. In 1862 new Orleans general Ulysses S. Grant started a campaign to sieze control of the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. Doing that it would cut Tennessee in half  it would be a river route to get into the Confederate territory.

    The climate in Tennessee is humid because of the Appalachin Mountains close to Tennessee.The Gulf of Mexico is the main reason Tennessee has the climate it has. Tennessee has pretty warm summers and cool winters. During the winter at night if you are close to the mountains it is close to freezing.
